Notice of April Board Meeting

The next Regular Meeting of the Board of Park Commissioners, of Mill Creek MetroParks is scheduled for Monday, April 13, 2020, at 6 p.m. While in-person attendance is not permitted due to COVID-19, the meeting can be viewed via Facebook Live on the Mill Creek MetroParks Facebook page. The agenda will be available on the website after 2 p.m. on the day of the meeting.

Mill Creek MetroParks Cancellations and Closures Extended Through May 1

In support of the recommendations from the Governor’s Office, the Ohio Department of Public Health and the Center for Disease Control regarding the potential spread of the COVID-19 virus and to protect the health, safety and welfare of our employees, volunteers and visitors, Mill Creek MetroParks is extending the cancellations of all previously scheduled programs, golf clinics/programs, events, lectures and facility rentals through May 1, 2020. Several indoor/outdoor public facilities will remain closed through May 1, 2020. In the event a registration fee or rental fee was paid, a full refund will be processed.

The following Mill Creek MetroParks indoor/outdoor locations will be closed to the public:

  • MetroParks Farm Education Building and Animal Barns
  • D. & Velma Davis Education and Visitors Center
  • All Pavilions, Cabins & Reservable Shelters
  • Yellow Creek Lodge
  • Lanterman’s Mill
  • Wick Warming House
  • Administration Office
  • Mill Creek Golf Course
  • All Basketball Courts
  • All Playgrounds
  • All Tennis Courts
  • All Ball Fields
  • Dek Hockey Rink – located at Wick Recreation Area

Various Mill Creek MetroParks outdoor locations will remain open including Mill Creek Park, Fellows Riverside Gardens, MetroParks Bikeway, James L. Wick Recreation Area, Scholl Recreation Area, Yellow Creek Park, Walking Trails, Golf Cart Paths for walking, and All Nature Preserves.

The MetroParks urges visitors to follow all guidelines from state and local health officials, such as social distancing, not congregating in large groups, and practicing good hygiene, as well as suggesting non-use of items such as handrails, park benches, and other areas frequently touched  to help flatten the curve and stop the spread of COVID-19.

 

 

Mill Creek MetroParks Officials Urge Social Distancing while using Park

Spending time outdoors is a great way to stay active and healthy during the COVID19 pandemic. Reconnecting with nature can help reduce stress, anxiety, and depression. Although many Mill Creek MetroParks indoor facilities, outdoor playgrounds, and programs have been closed and cancelled, Mill Creek Park remains open for visitors to get outside and explore. Mill Creek MetroParks officials want to remind park users of the importance in following all guidelines from state and local health officials, such as social distancing and practicing good hygiene to help flatten the curve and stop the spread of COVID-19.

Mill Creek Golf Course Closure

 The Mill Creek Golf Course located at 1 West Golf Drive, Boardman, will be closed to the public through at least Sunday, April 5, 2020 due to Ohio Governor Mike DeWine’s “Stay at Home” order in an effort to help control the spread of the COVID-19 Virus.

The facility and course will re-open for business at a later date as new developments are made by the Governor.

Cancellation Notice of MetroParks Citizens Advisory Committee Meeting

The Finance Citizens Advisory Committee to the Board of Park Commissioners of Mill Creek MetroParks previously scheduled to meet on Wednesday, March 25, 2020, at 5:30 p.m. in Classroom A at the MetroParks Farm in Canfield has been cancelled due to facility closures in an effort to help control the spread of the COVID-19 Virus. A rescheduled date and time will be announced at a later date.

Mill Creek MetroParks Administration Office Closure

The Mill Creek MetroParks Administration Office located at 7574 Columbiana-Canfield Rd., Canfield will be closed to the public effective at 4:30 pm on March 19, 2020 through at least April 5, 2020 in an effort to help control the spread of the COVID-19 Virus.

The MetroParks is currently accepting bids for four (4) individual capital improvement projects. Plans, specifications, and contract documents for the Wick Recreation Area Maintenance Facility project can be picked up at Roller Reprographics plan room in North Lima. The contract documents, plan drawing sets, and legal notices for the three remaining projects: 2020 Parking Lot Improvements, MetroParks Bikeway Improvements, and Mill Creek Golf Course Cath Paths are posted for viewing on the MetroParks website at www.millcreekmetroparks.org. Contractors are to print and use these documents for official bid submittals. All fees for prospective bidders have been waived. Please note the requirements for submitting bids, as well as the bid opening/due date and time listed in the Legal Notice for each project. All mailed bids must be complete and received by the MetroParks prior to bid opening. Drop off will not be available until the date of the bid opening. Project bid openings previously scheduled for March 27, 2020 will be conducted as scheduled at the MetroParks Administration Office on Friday, March 27, 2020 and will be held in accordance with all current rules pertaining to public gatherings. Mill Creek Golf Course to Open for the 2020 Golf Season

The North Course at Mill Creek Golf Course will open for the season on Monday, March 16, 2020 at Noon. The South Course has a tentative opening date of Monday, April 6, 2020, weather permitting. The Practice Range & Learning Center at the Mill Creek Golf Course and the James L. Wick, Jr. Recreation Area Par-3 Golf Course are both scheduled to open on Monday, April 13, 2020.
