Daffodils are one of the most welcoming signs of Spring, and as soon as they begin to sprout, Mill Creek MetroParks celebrates with programs & events like Daffodil Day, Daffodil & Bluebells Walk, and Trolley rides to Daffodil Meadow. For generations, daffodils have been blooming throughout the park thanks to the hard work of our staff and volunteers. Daffodil Divisions
There are more than 32,000 cultivars of daffodils. They are divided into 13 divisions according to their flower shape and heritage.
Family Tree
Daffodils are also known as “Narcissus” and belong to the Amaryllis family. Other members of the Amaryllis family are Agapanthus, Clivia, and Allium.
Where In The World?
Daffodils grow from bulbs and are native to the fields and woods of Southern Europe and North Africa. The correct term for daffodils trumpet or central cone is Corona.
Cut Daffodils
Daffodils have a vase life of 4-6 days. The sap from their cut stems can damage other flowers in the arrangement. Place them in a separate vase of water for an hour before adding them in. DON’T RECUT THEIR STEMS.
