Take part in a citizen science hike where we’ll identify, photograph and measure the oldest/largest trees in Mill Creek Park.
Ever wonder what is the most common species of tree in the park? Or how about the oldest tree in the park? What about the most unusual tree? These are some of the questions we are looking to answer as part of this Tree Survey Hike series that will be conducted throughout the year.
During this hike we’ll use phones and other equipment to photograph, identify and measure the largest trees in the park. The information will be uploaded to the iNaturalist website/App where the data can be tracked and utilized by the park and other researchers to better manage our natural resources. If you do have a smart phone please download the iNaturalist App, create an account and practices taking identifiable photos of plants and other wildlife you come across. During the hike you will have an opportunity to use other technology and equipment that will assist us in our tree survey.
