Mill Creek to open fields and courts

Mill Creek MetroParks has announced the reopening of baseball / softball fields and tennis courts on Tuesday.

Baseball and softball fields at Wick Recreation Area and School Recreation Area, along with tennis courts at Wick Recreation, Volney Rogers Field, School Recreation and Yellow Creek Park, will be available for public use, but social distancing and other “best practices” mandated by the state must be followed.

Playgrounds, basketball and volleyball courts will remain closed.

Mill Creek MetroParks set to open baseball/softball fields; tennis courts

Some summer activities will be available to guests at Mill Creek MetroParks starting Tuesday, May 26.

In a press release issued by park Community Engagement Director Jaime Yahman on Friday, stated that Mill Creek MetroParks will be opening the baseball/ softball fields at Wick Recreation Area and Scholl Recreation Area along with all tennis courts which are located at Wick Recreation Area, Volney Rogers Field, Scholl Recreation Area, and Yellow Creek Park.

Those wanting to use the baseball/softball fields or tennis courts must follow mandatory best practices issued by the Governor and the Ohio Department of Health. Information concerning proper guidelines can be found online at www.coronavirus.ohio.gov or www.millcreekmetroparks.org. At this time, playgrounds, basketball courts, and volleyball courts will remain closed per orders by the Governor’s office.

For those interested in reserving a field or court, are asked to go online to www.millcreekmetroparks.org for a printable or online application or by calling 330.740.7114 ext. 104.

The MetroParks ask all visitors to continue following guidelines from state and local health officials, such as staying home if sick or exhibiting symptoms, maintaining at least six feet apart from other visitors, avoiding congregating in large groups and bypass busy areas, practicing good hygiene by washing hands often and carrying hand sanitizer, as well as suggesting non-use of items such as handrails, park benches, and other areas frequently touched to help stop the spread of COVID-19. A complete list of closures, cancellations and openings can be found at www.millcreekmetroparks.org.
