Summer Discovery Camps at Mill Creek MetroParks

Give your child the gift of exploration and excitement with a week of Summer Discovery Camp at Mill Creek MetroParks. The Summer Discovery Camps provide children, ages 5 -12, with the freedom to discover and experience the outdoors in a safe and fun environment. Our summer camps encourage curiosity, exploration, and investigation that can lead to a greater understanding of the natural world and a lifelong appreciation for our environment.

Registration opens March 1, 2018

To register you may download a copy of the registration form, call 330.740.7116, or stop by Fellows Riverside Gardens. Payment, plus completed forms need to be submitted to the Fellows Riverside Gardens two weeks in advance of your summer camp, see individual camp deadlines. Space is limited. Additional fees apply after the deadline.

You will receive a confirmation after your registration is complete.

Cancellations less than two weeks prior to the summer camp are non-refundable. Cancellations less than four weeks, but before the two week deadline will have a 10% cancellation fee. Cancellations made four weeks prior will receive a full refund. Summer camps are held rain or shine. A full refund will be issued if the summer camp is cancelled by Mill Creek MetroParks.

Park Pals

Ages 5-6 / Fee: $80 R; $92 NR

Junior Adventurers

6/11 – 6/15 I 9 am – 1 pm

Summer is a time of discovery! Each day is a new adventure as we explore different habitats and discover the animals that live there. We will hike new trails, stomp in a stream, catch bugs in the meadow, and so much more! Games, crafts, and stories are all part of the fun. Register/pay by 5/28.

Food Quest

7/9 – 7/13 | 9 am – 1 pm

Spend the day learning about where our food comes from. Tour the MetroParks Farm, meet the animals, and work with soil to see how things grow. We’ll even make and taste our own snacks. Games, crafts, and stories are part of each day! Register/pay by 6/25.


Ages 7-9 / Fee: $126 R; $140 NR

Around the Park

6/18 – 6/22 | 9 am – 4 pm

Explore many of the different areas that our MetroParks has to offer! We will have fun learning about historic Lanterman’s Mill, adventuring on the trails, enjoying Wick Recreation Area and much more. Crafts, hikes, sports, and activities are all part of the fun! Each day has different drop-off or pick-up locations. Register/pay by 6/4.

Wild Water!

7/16 – 7/20 | 9 am – 4 pm

Come get wet and wild at Mill Creek Park and learn about all that’s wild in our water during this week-long camp filled with learning and adventure. Be prepared to get wet as we learn about the park’s lakes, streams, and wetlands and all the critters that live in them. Register/pay by 7/2.


Ages 10-12 / Fee: $126 R; $140 NR

Science in the Park

6/25 – 6/29 | 9 am – 4 pm

Explore different kinds of sciences with the MetroParks! We will be exploring the earth, our park, and doing experiments all week long! Delve deep into geology, explore the outdoors and ecology, reach high in the sky to learn astronomy, splash around with hydrology, and get experimental with chemistry. Register/pay by 6/11.

Around the Park

7/23 – 7/27 | 9 am – 4 pm

Explore many of the different areas that our MetroParks has to offer! Explore different trails, historic features, and ecosystems from Historic Mill Creek Park to Vickers Nature Preserve. Fun activities include games, compass orientation, hikes, sports, and even a trolley ride! Each day has different drop-off or pick-up locations. Register/pay by 7/9.


  • Dress for the weather!
  • Wear clothes that are comfortable for outdoor and indoor activities and hands-on, messy fun.
  • Comfortable, closed-toe shoes
  • Extra shoes for water activities
  • Poncho or rain jacket – we play in the rain!

What to Bring to Camp

  • A reusable water bottle
  • A nut-free lunch and snacks that do not require refrigeration.
  • A backpack with a change of clothes and to carry projects home.
  • Sunscreen and insect repellant – best if applied prior to the start of the camp day.
  • Hat (optional)
  • Any medications necessary during the program (i.e., inhaler, Epi-Pen, etc.)

What Not to Bring to Camp

  • Campers are encouraged to leave all electronic devices at home

Dedicated & Passionate Staff

Staff are experienced educators, who are passionate and dedicated to giving your child a positive and safe experience in the outdoors. All staff members participate in annual training, are first-aid certified, and love teaching children.

Facility Information

Mill Creek MetroParks offers unique and amazing outdoor opportunities for your child from the 45 miles of trails to well-known facilities, like the MetroParks Farm and Fellows Riverside Gardens, to hidden natural gems at the nature preserves to iconic structures, such as Lanterman’s Mill.
