Summer Sports Clinics & Camps at Mill Creek MetroParks

Give your youngster the opportunity to try out a new recreational activity or to hone skills in one they already enjoy.  Sports clinics and camps at Mill Creek MetroParks encourage fun learning and enjoyment of activities & sports at sites throughout the park.

To register you may call or stop by at the facility listed with each clinic/camp or you may download a copy of the registration form and send the form and fees to Ford Nature Cener, 840 Old Furnace Road, Youngstown,  OH 44511, Attn: Recreation & Education Department. Space is limited.  Additional fees apply after the deadline, wherever a deadline is listed.

You will receive a confirmation after your registration is complete with both forms and fees. Confirmation will include specific information/directions for clinic/camp sites. Some programs may have multiple drop off and pick up sites during the week to allow for a diverse sampling of activities throughout the park.  

Please Note: Cancellations less than 48 hours prior to the clinic/camp are non-refundable and non-transferrable. Cancellations less than one week, but before the 48 hour deadline will have a 10% cancellation fee. Cancellations a full week prior will receive a full refund.

Programs are held rain or shine as long as safety permits. Every effort will be made to reschedule dates if severe weather dictates that one of the program dates cannot be held. Refunds will be issued on a pro-rated basis if whole day cancellations due to weather are made by Mill Creek MetroParks and a suitable rescheduled date cannot be made.

Soccer Clinic

Ages 8-12 / Fee: $30 R; $40 NR

June 18 – 21 | 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm

Held at Stitt Pavilion

Clinic is geared for beginner to intermediate players who desire to improve their game while having fun. Instructor  Katherine Hackos, YSU Soccer will incorporate games focusing on basic techniques such as ball control, passing, receiving, striking and scoring. Batting Clinic

Ages 7-16 / Fee: $20 R; $25 NR

June 26 & 27 | 10 am – Noon

Held at Volney Field

Instructed by Coach Craig Antush. Players of all experience levels will benefit from the focus on learning and improving hitting mechanics. Spaces are limited to provide one-on-one instruction with Craig. Bring bat, helmet, glove & a water bottle. For more information or to register/pay call Ford Nature Center at 330.740.7107 by 6/23.

Mill Creek Youth Recreational & Sports Camp

Ages 6-15 / Fee: $49.99

June 13 – 15 | 10 am – 3 pm

Held at Wick Recreation Area

A recreational and sports camp designed for kids. This camp will encompass the sports of baseball, golf, tennis, street hockey and volleyball along with fitness and hiking. There will be instructors on hand each day teaching kids the proper fundamentals of each sport as well as the techniques to become better at each sport. The hiking portion of the camp will feature outdoor nature education and brief history on the Mill Creek MetroParks. Program instructors will be from the local area and will share a wealth of knowledge of their areas of instruction. CANCELLED – Mill Creek Activity Sampler

Ages 7-12 / Fee: $90 R; $105 NR

July 9 – 13  | 10 am – 3:00 pm

Various Locations throughout the Park

Youth will enjoy an active exploration of Mill Creek MetroParks.and get to try out the various sports, activities and games offered throughout the park. Pickleball, kickball, batting, volleyball, hiking, golf, yoga, and a boat ride are just part of the fun!  Each day will be in a different area of the park. Beginning Tennis Clinic

Ages 6-12 / Fee: $30 R; $40 NR

July 23 -26 | 10:00 am – Noon

Held at Volney Field

Tennis is a skill that can last a lifetime. This clinic for beginners will be instructed by Audrey Schweers, Poland Swim Club Head Tennis Pro, on MCMP’s newly renovated courts at Volney Field. Introduction to tennis skills  will focus on proper grips, footwork, strokes, volleys and serves, as well as etiquette and rules. Fun drills and games help to increase understanding and comfort with skills and techniques of playing. Bring a water bottle & racquet. Archery Camp

Ages 8-14 / Fee: $60 R; $70 NR

7/23 – 7/27 I 6 – 8 pm

Held at MetroParks Farm

Program is a basic introduction of the fundamentals of archery including safety guidelines. Class is taught by certified 4-H archery advisors. All five nights of participation is expected. Snack provided. All participants will shoot nightly. Parents are encouraged to stay and observe. Equipment provided. Register/pay at MetroParks Farm at 330.533.7572 by 7/18.

  • Closed-toe, comfortable, athletic style shoes
  • Jacket for rain/ chilly days

What to Bring to Camp

  • Reusable water bottle
  • High energy snack for short clinics
  • Sack lunch and drink for all day clinics/camps
  • Sunscreen – best if applied prior to arriving
  • Hat (optional)
  • Any medication necessary (inhaler, Epi-Pen, et.)
