Equestrian recreational opportunities are available at Vickers Nature Preserve in Ellsworth Township. This 262-acre preserve, acquired in 1993, is located on Akron-Canfield Road (Route 224). Vickers Nature Preserve features a variety of habitats, including meadows, woodlands, wetlands, and ponds, along with several small streams that flow into Meander Creek just upstream of the Meander Reservoir. By preserving these stream habitats, the preserve plays a vital role in protecting the drinking water resources for nearly 220,000 residents of Trumbull and Mahoning Counties.

The preserve offers a spacious parking lot for easy access to recreational and educational activities. Visitors can enjoy hiking throughout the preserve, and there are free-use equestrian trails available as well. A port-a-john is also located on-site for convenience.
