Mill Creek north golf course reopens

Following the tornado and macroburst that hit the valley in July, Mill Creek’s two golf courses were closed indefinitely due to damages. They announced the north course would be reopening, and Saturday morning they welcomed golfers back to the links and to the Hole 55 Bar and Grill.

Many regulars wasted no time, and picked up the phone the minute they heard the good news.

“And there were a bunch of us in the pro shop, kind of anticipating some phone calls, and we basically went 321, and the phone rang. So it was really nice. Some people had heard a couple days in advance and said, can we make them?” said head golf professional Stacie Butler.

Many golfers consider the course a second home, with long standing tee times they are elated to get back to. The Teacher’s Golf Association has noon reservations 7 days a week.

“We have standing tee times seven days a week. This way, I don’t have to call. Hey, Marv, you want to play Joe? You want to play? I know if I’m here at 12 o’clock, there’s a group going out, you know, and they accommodate us very well,” said David Skelley.

The reopening providing a little extra luck to some on their first game back.

“Very excited, and it was a great day. Haven’t had a hole in one in quite some time. And number 14, I got a hole in one today, so I am very excited to be back at Mill Creek,” said Larry Stacey.

The south course faced more significant damage, and is expected to reopen in April 2027.
