Observed Holidays: Martin Luther King Day, Presidents Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, Day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas, and New Year’s Day

Each year, during Spring, Summer, and Fall, the Education Department at Mill Creek MetroParks eagerly hosts a variety of visitors, including public and private schools, homeschool groups, adult groups, families, and work groups for educational field trips.

2025 REGISTRATION OPEN DATES

  • SPRING FIELD TRIPS/GROUP VISITS (March-May):

    Registration opens February 1st.

  • SUMMER FIELD TRIPS/GROUP VISITS (June-August):

    Registration opens April 1st.

  • FALL FIELD TRIPS/GROUP VISITS (September-October):

    Registration opens July 1st.

*MetroParks Farm and Lanterman’s Mill are not available until late April.

VISITS OFFERED SPRING, SUMMER & FALL

  • FORD NATURE CENTER (1.5-2 hours/Maximum 50 participants)
    • Educator led Nature Hike (proper hiking footwear required) 45 minutes
    • Educator led Nature Lesson/Indoor Center Exploration 45 minutes

    *Most developmentally appropriate for grades 3-12 or ages 8-adult for non-school groups. Available to schedule in March.

  • LANTERMAN’S MILL (1.5-2 hours/Maximum 50 participants)
    • Inside Tour of Mill (approximately 45 minutes)
    • Gorge Hike (approximately 45 minutes)
    • Outside space for lunch provided if requested (30 minutes)

    *Reserved for grades 3-12/ages 8-adult due to the challenges of the facility and hike. Available to schedule in late April.

  • METROPARKS FARM (1.5-2 hours/Maximum 60 participants)
    • Barn Tour/Pond Hike (approximately 45 minutes)
    • Tractor Wagon Tour (approximately 45 minutes)
    • Indoor space for lunch provided if requested (30 minutes)

    *Most developmentally appropriate for grades Pre-K-3 or ages 4-8 for non-school groups. Available to schedule in late April.
