Mill Creek MetroParks is excited to announce the former PGA Tour Player and United States Ryder Cup Team Member, Jerry McGee will serve as the honorary tournament host at the 2017 Mill Creek MetroParks Foundation American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) Junior All-Star event. Jerry McGee is a 4-time PGA Tour tournament winner and was a member of the victorious United States Ryder Cup team in 1977. After the PGA Tour, Jerry had a successful career on the Champions Tour and as the PGA Director of Golf at Oaktree Country Club in West Middlesex, PA where he won the Tri-State PGA Sections Teacher of the Year award in 1991.  Jerry’s family have been strong supporters of junior golf as his son Mike McGee and daughter-in-law Annika Sorenstam host many AJGA junior tournaments worldwide.  Jerry is an avid fan of area high school sports and the Youngstown State University athletic programs all while having time to still instruct a few junior golfers in the Mahoning Valley.

The 54-Hole Junior All-Star Championship will take place at Mill Creek Golf Course June 20 – 22 and will include a Junior-Am Tournament on June 19 as well as a regional qualifier on June 18.  There will be a local qualifier on May 20 for area juniors in the Mahoning Valley who are looking to qualify. The event will host junior golfers from around the world in the 12-15 age division. “We are honored to have such an iconic golf legend from the local area associated with our AJGA event at Mill Creek Golf Course this summer. Jerry’s support towards last years event and his love for sports in the Youngstown area will make this years event even more special for the Mahoning Valley.  I’m excited to be able to celebrate his career and to have him be part of the event”, says Brian Tolnar, Mill Creek PGA Director of Golf.

Last years event contributed $254,697.00 to the Mahoning Valley and surrounding areas. If interested in being a sponsor or volunteer for this years event, please contact the Mill Creek MetroParks Golf Course at (330) 740-7112 for more information.
