Work is finally getting underway for Mill Creek MetroPark’s newest project.
Starting Tuesday, the facility known as “Hawkins Marsh” in Smith Township will be closed as crews install an access drive and parking lot. They’ll also be putting in walking trails.
The area is 161 acres along Western Reserve Road, just west of Route 534.
The project is expected to last around 60 days. Seventy-five percent of the funding is coming from the Clean Ohio Conservation Fund.

Beginning Tuesday, October 31, 2023, the MetroParks’ facility Hawkins Marsh will be closed for an improvement project. This project includes installation of an access drive, parking lot, and aggregate trails. Work will consist of earthwork, aggregate placement, and miscellaneous related items.
The project is expected to last approximately sixty (60) days in total, barring any inclement weather that would delay or prolong the anticipated project schedule.
Funding for this project is provided through a successful Clean Ohio Conservation Fund grant which provides up to 75% funding for this improvement project.
