Mill Creek MetroParks Winter Road Closures

Effective Wednesday, December 23, the following roads in Mill Creek Park will be closed to vehicular traffic for the winter:
•      Chestnut Hill Drive between Canfield Road and the Kirkmere Spur
•      High Drive between the Kirkmere Spur and West Cohasset Drive
•      Calvary Run Drive between Belle Vista Avenue and Milton Avenue

When closed to vehicular traffic, these roads are available for recreational use for hiking, cross country skiing and sledding. Aside from recreational opportunities, benefits of winter road closures include cost savings associated with snow/ice removal as well as a reduction of negative environmental impacts from deicing salt. All roads will reopen in the spring when weather permits.

In the winter months, snow and ice can create slippery roadway conditions. Roads with limited shoulders, lack of guardrails and steep grades can become increasingly hazardous for motorists. The following roads in Mill Creek Park will be closed to vehicular traffic as well as cyclists and pedestrians from approximately 7 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 10, for the Out of the Darkness Suicide Prevention Walk:
• Bears Den Drive
• Cross Drive
• New Cross Drive
• West Drive

Mill Creek MetroParks Road Closure

West Cohasset Drive in Mill Creek Park, from High Drive to Old Furnace Road, will be closed starting September 29 for approximately 2-3 weeks. A portion of the shoulder of West Cohasset Drive will be reconstructed. In addition, some storm drainage repairs will be accomplished. The water level of Lake Cohasset will be lowered for this project. The Flats and the Suspension Bridge will still be accessible during this project. From September 14 through September 18, the following roads in Mill Creek Park will be periodically closed on a rotational basis to vehicular traffic as well as cyclists and pedestrians for asphaltic crack filling work:
• West Golf Drive
• East Cohasset Drive
• Robinson Hill Drive
• West Glacier Drive
• Calvary Run Drive

There will be a number of road closures in Mill Creek MetroParks this weekend due to the YMCA Community Cup on Saturday and Green Cathedral Half Marathon/5K/Kids Fun Run on Sunday.

The following roads will be closed to vehicular traffic as well as cyclists and pedestrians on SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 12 from approximately 7 a.m. until noon for the YMCA Community Cup:
West Glacier Drive, West Drive, Bears Den Drive, New Cross Drive, Cross Drive, West Cohasset Drive, High Drive, Chestnut Hill Drive, East Park Drive, Valley Drive, East Glacier Drive, Memorial Hill Drive, and Robinson Hill Drive.

The following roads will be closed to vehicular traffic as well as cyclists and pedestrians on SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 13 from approximately 6 a.m. until noon for the Green Cathedral Half Marathon/5K/Kids Fun Run:
Bears Den Drive, Lily Pond Drive, West Drive, West Glacier Drive, Robinson Hill Drive, East Glacier Drive, Memorial Hill Drive, East Cohasset Drive, East Park Drive, Valley Drive, Old Mill Drive, East Newport Drive, Kreider’s Entrance, West Newport Drive, Chestnut Hill Drive, High Drive, West Cohasset Drive, Cross Drive, and New Cross Drive.

Calvary Run Drive and the Lakeview Entrance in Mill Creek Park will be closed beginning Wednesday, August 26 for sanitary sewer repair work which will be completed by the City of Youngstown Public Works Department. Mill Creek MetroParks roads closed for Stone Arch Bridges rehabilitation

The following roads in Mill Creek Park will be closed starting Monday, July 27 for rehabilitation of two historic stone arch bridges:

  • West Drive from Dividing Sycamore to West Glacier Drive
  • Lily Pond Drive from West Drive to Birch Hill Cabin (access to Birch Hill Cabin and the Lily Pond will be available from McCollum Road)
