Road closings in and around Mill Creek MetroParks

Temporary Adjustment for Daffodil Meadow Visitation

Mill Creek MetroParks understands the impact the East Newport Drive closure has brought to the public and with that accommodations have been made in providing a temporary change in traffic patterns to permit vehicles, pedestrians, and bicyclists the opportunity to experience Daffodil Meadow this spring. All park users will be permitted to travel to Daffodil Meadow and slightly beyond, at which point they will be instructed to turn around.

By order of MetroParks Police, it is imperative for park visitors to continue to abide by the directional and regulatory signage, as well as the barricades which prevent access to the roadway slide/future project site to ensure visitor safety during the closure and duration of the project.

Mill Creek MetroParks Winter Road Closures

Effective Monday, November 30, 2020 the following roads in Mill Creek Park will be closed to vehicular traffic for the winter:

  • High Drive, between Chestnut Hill Drive and West Cohasset Drive
  • Chestnut Hill Drive, between Canfield Road and High Drive
  • Calvary Run Drive, between Belle Vista Avenue and Milton Avenue

When closed to vehicular traffic, these roads are available for recreational use for hiking, cross country skiing and sledding. Aside from recreational opportunities, benefits of winter road closures include cost savings associated with snow/ice removal as well as a reduction of negative environmental impacts from deicing salt. All roads will reopen in the spring when weather permits.

In the winter months, snow and ice can create slippery roadway conditions. Roads with limited shoulders, lack of guardrails and steep grades can become increasingly hazardous for motorists. Always use caution when driving on MetroParks roads.
