The following roads in Mill Creek Park will be closed to vehicular traffic as well as cyclists and pedestrians from approximately 7 a.m. until noon on Sunday, April 19, 2015 for the Casal’s 5K:

• Old Mill Drive
• Kreider’s Entrance
• West Newport Drive
• East Newport Drive
• Chestnut Hill Drive
• New Cross Drive
• Bears Den Drive
• Cross Drive
• West Drive

Always use caution when driving on MetroParks roads as many of these roads are also used by pedestrians and bicyclists. Pedestrians and bicyclists should be reminded to also use caution and be aware of vehicular traffic when on these roads. Effective Monday, November 17, the following roads in Mill Creek Park will be closed to vehicular traffic for the winter:

• Chestnut Hill Drive between Canfield Road and the Kirkmere Spur
• High Drive between the Kirkmere Spur and West Cohasset Drive
• Calvary Run Drive between Belle Vista Avenue and Milton Avenue

When closed to vehicular traffic, these roads are available for recreational use for hiking, cross country skiing and sledding. Aside from recreational opportunities, benefits of winter road closures include cost savings associated with snow/ice removal as well as a reduction of negative environmental impacts from deicing salt. All roads will reopen in the spring when weather permits.

In the winter months, snow and ice can create slippery roadway conditions. Roads with limited shoulders, lack of guardrails and steep grades can become increasingly hazardous for motorists. The following roads in Mill Creek Park will be closed to vehicular traffic as well as cyclists and pedestrians from approximately 7 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, September 28, 2014 for the Run Ytown 10 Miler:

•  Old Mill Drive
•  Kreider’s Entrance
•  West Newport Drive
•  East Newport Drive
•  Chestnut Hill Drive

A portion of West Golf Drive in Mill Creek Park from the Mill Creek Golf Course to Shields Road will be closed to vehicular traffic as well as cyclists and pedestrians beginning September 2. The road will be closed to undergo storm drainage pipe and asphalt paving work. The Mill Creek Golf Course will remain open and can be accessed from the entrance on Rt. 224. The project is expected to take approximately 6-8 weeks.
